IMPORTANT CHANGES TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT - HAVE YOUR SAY
The Community Governance Review will be discussed at the parish council meeting on Wednesday 4 February, starting at 7.30pm at the Church of St Paul and St Peter in Water Lane. The proposals could have a significant effect on Ospringe residents, both financially and in terms of amenity and governance.
Some proposals for Swale have already been put forward. Amongst these, Faversham Town Council has proposed that parts of Ospringe parish - including the houses in Dawsons Row and adjoining, as well as Queen Court dwellings - should be removed from the parish and be subsumed within Faversham Town Council instead. Ospringe County Primary School is within the area suggested by Faversham Town Council to be transferred. A number of houses in Brogdale Road are also included.
The proposals also include transfer of two large tracts of mostly open greenfield land currently within Ospringe parish. One forms part of the land which is the subject of an outline planning application submitted late last year for 85 dwellings and a new car park. This land fronts the A2 London Road (next to Chapel Car Sales) and adjoins the Joyce Field allotments (run by the parish council for over 130 years) behind Ospringe School. The parish council has objected strongly to this application. The second is the currently agricultural land between Brogdale Road and Vicarage Lane running to the M2 motorway on the south and the bridleway on the north. There is also a third area of land included in the Town Council’s proposals which forms part of the amenity land for the Perry Court housing development.
Given the implications both for the residents of the whole parish – especially those in the area affected - and the Parish Council, we shall be seeking as many views as possible before we make our representations by the 9 February deadline.
You are also encouraged to take part in the consultation directly, using the details in the attached leaflet here.
Please contact Chairman Andrew Keel or the Parish Clerk if you would like any further information.

DEFIBRILLATOR
OSPRINGE Parish Council has acquired a heart defibrillator for the community, with kind contributions from Swale Borough Council and Queenborough Fishery Trust.
The defibrillator is now operational and situated in a bright yellow cabinet on the front wall of the Anglican Catholic Church in the centre of Painter’s Forstal for quick access.
It is registered with The Circuit, the UK network of publicly available defibrillators.
In an emergency where you suspect cardiac arrest, dial 999 and the operator will provide the code to open the cabinet and gain access to the defibrillator.
No training is needed to use the equipment as it gives real-time verbal instructions during use and runs automatically.
The Anglican Catholic Church is kindly providing the electricity needed for the cabinet in which defibrillator is kept.
A rota of volunteers has also been set up to complete regular checks on the equipment to ensure it remains ready for use.
If you wish to join the list of volunteers, please contact the Parish Clerk via [email protected].

FLY TIPPING
The parish council is concerned about a rise in fly-tipping in the country lanes. We encourage parishioners to download the Country Eye mobile phone app, which allows the convenient instant reporting of fly-tipping to Swale Borough Council for action, including the precise location and photographs.
